Consignment to School Aid South Africa and Cape Town partners

School Aid's third container to South Africa left the warehouse in mid-November.

Twelve pallets of materials including books and school furniture went to five Johannesburg projects including SOS Johannesburg and Hope for Homes. In Cape Town two pallets will be distributed in Grassy Park by the Rotary Club of Kirstensbosch and two pallets of resources for the Blue Hand Project of Capespan (pty) Ltd.

New programme launched in Lesotho

A new initiative was launched in April with support from the Waterloo Foundation to supply schools in rural areas of Lesotho with educational resources. School Aid loaded a 20-foot container with primary and secondary textbooks, reading books and sports equipment to be distributed by the Ministry of Education and Training in Maseru.

Consignment to Tarime

Around 6000 pupils from 5 schools in the Tarime area of Tanzania have been sent 26 cubic metres of books and other educational resources.

19 schools across four provinces stocked with books

A 40 foot container with over 30,000 books was sent to 19 under-resourced schools in Limpopo, Gauteng, Western and Eastern Cape provinces in South Africa.

Over 15,000 pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds will benefit from access to reading, reference books, science and sports equipment.

22,000 books to schools in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia

Our first shipment of 2011 was sent with 22,000 books, plus science equipment, chairs, stationery and music stands.

Many of the books are destined for new school libraries that School Aid South Africa are opening in 2011.

Herne Hill School in London packed 19 boxes of school supplies for their linked school Khanya Primary in Cape Town, South Africa.

The science equipment will be travelling overland to schools in southern Zimbabwe, and one pallet will be transported to a primary school in Zambia.

Consignment to Roneca Girls' High School, Tanzania

A shipment of 626 boxes of books and sports equipment sent to Roneca Girls' High School arrived in July 2011. 

The school is located in Misugusugu Village, in the coastal district of Kibaha.

Students at the school are studying for 'O' levels in science, maths, English, geography, history, commerce, economics and book-keeping. The boxes contained books covering every sector of this curriculum, as well as stationery and sports clothes and equipment.

Large consignment to Tanzanian schools

A large consignment of over 600 boxes was sent to Dar es Salaam for onward distribution to a number of schools in Tanzania. This contained many boxes of reading and educational books, plus school furniture and supplies. Our partner Kit Aid provided sports equipment and clothing, and LabAid provided science laboratory equipment for schools in the Tanga Region of Tanzania.
