My Wednesday running coaching group

Rachel Seymour is running this year's London Marathon for School Aid

Date
Sunday 28th April 2019 (10.00am)

Thank you to all who have sponsored me so far; I have now reached 50% of my target which is just amazing! A combination of contacting everyone I know, added to selling on eBay and Facebook groups is ensuring that the fundraising total grows bit by bit.

The last few weeks have been a bit up and down with training which can be disheartening at times. I joined a Wednesday coaching group at the beginning of the year which ensures that I get my hill training and speed training in each week, and has also given me the opportunity to make even more lovely running friends. (I'm the one on the left of the photo)

Despite the snow I didn't miss any training runs in January and was progressing well. I was then lucky enough to join my husband on a work trip to Dubai at the end of January and leave the cold and snow behind for a few days. While he worked I enjoyed a lovely 10 mile run in 26 degree sunshine along the beach and coastline, and around the Palm Jumeriah where I was very impressed to find a running track! However, after returning home I then wasn't able to run for 10 days thanks to a cold virus that zapped all my energy, not sure whether to thank the reconditioned aeroplane air or my lovely children for it!

I was desperate to get back on track and remain positive about my training, and despite a slow first run back I enjoyed three good runs last week - a 4.5 miler, 8 miler and 15 miles on Sunday, my longest ever run. The last two miles were extremely tough and I had to dig deep and focus on the reason I am doing this, and that got me through mentally. Although aching, I feel so positive that I have reached this distance. I have the Hillingdon half marathon coming up next Sunday followed by the Hillingdon 20, Fleet half and Dorney Lake 20 in the coming weeks... thank you again for your support, it really means a lot!
