For many school children in Africa, it isn’t just limited access to books that holds back their education it’s also the lack of basic and essential school supplies.  If children and teachers are unable to perform simple tasks such as taking notes with a pencil, the quality of any education is seriously diminished.

The aim of Project Pencil is to get as many full pencil cases to the children we support in Africa as we can, enabling them to participate in daily class work and to sit vital school exams.

It’s also a way for schools in the UK to get involved on a more tangible level – it’s a very personal experience when a school child in Africa opens a pencil case that has been filled just for them.

What can you do?

Choose any type of pencil case and fill it with a selection of the following items, either new or used items in good condition:

  • writing and/or coloured pencils
  • pens
  • erasers
  • pencil sharpeners
  • maths equipment
  • rulers
  • set squares etc.
  • Also, we do ask for a £2 donation to be included with every pencil case to help with the costs of shipping

If you are interested in supporting School Aid in this way but would like more information on how you can go about it, please contact us on 01753-883 853 or e-mail us at [email protected] .  We will be happy to discuss the process with you, and we have supporting literature and other resources which can help make the whole collection process an interesting and exciting event.
