On a beautiful day in July, our supporters turned out for the 6th year to take part in our annual Fun Run. We welcomed some familiar faces and greeted some new ones; we were pretty impressed by a small group of serious runners; there were lots of families and walkers, and quite a number of very fit dogs! Two new routes through the delightful Buckinghamshire countryside gave participants a choice of 2km and 5km off-road trails - all were counted out, all returned safely.
Both routes ended at the School Aid warehouse, with water and ice-creams ready for the weary, and a tour of the warehouse for those wanting to learn more about our operation. And we couldn't have asked for better weather - nothing can beat the UK countryside on a sunny day in July!
We were also supported by Tutwa, our very tame but speedy giraffe. A lively group of cows proved a bit of an obstacle for her young giraffe - but he stuck his neck out and made it to the finish line. Well done Rachel and Adam.
We are so grateful to everybody who joined us on Sunday, and to our helpers and staff. Giving up part of your weekend to support School Aid is a wonderful thing - and please know, the proceeds will make a huge life-lasting difference to the children we support in Africa.
And finally, having crunched the numbers, we are delighted to congratulate the following:
Winner of 5km: Liz Lee
Winner of 2km Xavier Tomi-Odufuna
Family 2km winners: Griffin family
Family 5km winners: Thompson family
Winning Team: Thorpe House 1
We also provide timings for the Fun Run to the best of our ability, but we do it under the priviso that nobody takes them as an official PB. They are as follows:
