Tennis equipment donated by School Aid provides great sporting opportunities

Tennis equipment, donated by the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, has once again been put to good use by the Irene Country Club, who run a Tennis Development programme for the Irene Middle School, a local school, situated in the Gauteng province of South Africa which is located between Pretoria and Johannesburg.

The programme has given children from the school a sporting opportunity, which they would otherwise not have. Many of the children come from extremely poor families. Each year they hold an event for the children and their families to show off their tennis skills. Over 200 people attended this year and the day is always filled with lots of fun and laughter. Each child receives a goodie bag  and all family members are treated to a meal and a cold drink. Past pupils from the school also attended and shared their success stories. Individuals and teams were awarded medals, trophies and gifts in front of some very proud parents.

The Club thanked School Aid for helping to make this day possible by providing the equipment and for helping to give the children and their parents a day to remember.
