Spanish books help children in Peru

School Aid were able to pass on books, unsuitable for Africa, to another charity, Building a future for Peruvian Children.

Carole Watton, Treasurer, had sent us a message saying that the final box of books taken to Peru last year were delivered to the second chosen primary school, El Socorro. The excited children started immediately to explore them. The headmaster felt they would be particularly helpful with a small number of children who were finding learning to read quite difficult.

We are delighted to welcome our Guest of Honour, Ntebo Phahlane, who has had a long association with School Aid through her previous role as Deputy Principal to a school we supported in South Africa. She will be speaking to our volunteers about the value and benefit of School Aid's literacy programme and we are arranging for her to visit some secondary schools in the UK.

Another young volunteer visits the warehouse

Tricia Hayne, Africa Projects Co-ordinator, brought along her 4 year old granddaughter, Ellie Nelson, to help sort and pack books at the School Aid warehouse.

Ellie had a lovely time with us and you can see from her face how much she enjoyed herself! Ellie appreciates how lucky she is to have access to books and very much wanted to help the children in Africa to have this opportunity too.

Children in Eastern Senegal benefiting from French Books

French books, shipped out to Waounde in Eastern Senegal in September 2016, are helping to create a fabulous school library.

One of our volunteers, Roselle Beard handed over some donated French books to another small charity based in Munich, who have sent a letter of thanks and some pictures of the library that is taking shape at one of the schools. This has been possible with the help of School Aid and friends everywhere in Europe.
