Another young volunteer visits the warehouse

Tricia Hayne, Africa Projects Co-ordinator, brought along her 4 year old granddaughter, Ellie Nelson, to help sort and pack books at the School Aid warehouse.

Ellie had a lovely time with us and you can see from her face how much she enjoyed herself! Ellie appreciates how lucky she is to have access to books and very much wanted to help the children in Africa to have this opportunity too.

Children in Eastern Senegal benefiting from French Books

French books, shipped out to Waounde in Eastern Senegal in September 2016, are helping to create a fabulous school library.

One of our volunteers, Roselle Beard handed over some donated French books to another small charity based in Munich, who have sent a letter of thanks and some pictures of the library that is taking shape at one of the schools. This has been possible with the help of School Aid and friends everywhere in Europe.

A new volunteer at School Aid

We are always delighted to welcome new volunteers to the School Aid warehouse. Here is a photo of one of our longstanding volunteers, Robert McGowen, with his son and grandson.

Baxter, Robert's grandson, had a fabulous time stamping books, ready to be packed up into boxes.

Riverside Primary School raise money from a Bake Sale

The children from Riverside Primary School in Stirling raised a fantastic £603.50 for School Aid by organising a Bake Sale.

We received a lovely letter from the P7's, who said they had organised this Bake Sale to help children in Africa, who are not as lucky as them. Their topic this term was Africa and they wanted to help children in any way they could. They went around the different classes selling cakes, biscuits and other sweet things. They hope the money they raised would benefit children across Africa, providing them with resources and stationery.

Play Association benefit from donated books

Occasionally we get donations of books which are not suitable for sending out to Africa so we would try and link in with other charitable organisations who could use these wonderful books.

Play Association is a charity founded in 2003 by a group of local people who recognised the need to support and create high quality accessible play opportunities for children and young people living in West London. We were able to pass on 10 boxes of Usborne Books (linguistic, cooking, Christmas etc) which had been donated in December 2017.
