Kamlesh and Jasse Gill visit the School Aid warehouse

We were delighted to welcome Kamlesh and Jasse Gill to the School Aid warehouse.

Last year, Kamlesh and Jasse Gill, members of the Ealing Lions Club, were responsible for collecting a few boxes of school books for School Aid. They did not rest at this and, last month, delivered 250 maths and science text books, donated by the Hurstmere School in Kent. Mrs Gill, who is a specialist teacher at the school, arranged the delivery of these books, with her husband Kamlesh. These books were no longer of use in the maths and science departments because of new GSCE curriculum changes.

A huge thank you to RWS for their donations

A local company, RWS, based in Chalfont St Peter, organised a dress down Friday in aid of School Aid.

Many thanks to Annabel Duchezeau and Iris Ruiz, the company's charity co-ordinators, who contacted us to say they had organised a dress down Friday in aid of School Aid. They raised an amount of money and also donated a mixture of fiction books, folders, stationery, puzzles, games and footballs - a total of about 9 boxes, which they brought along to the warehouse.

Thank you so much to all the staff at RWS for their generous donations.

Peter Kara, High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, visits the warehouse

We were delighted to welcome the current High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire and his wife, Dolores, to the warehouse on Tuesday 20th March.

Peter shared his experiences of working within a school in the Limpopo area of South Africa with the volunteers and trustees. Peter had a real understanding of the benefits of providing good quality educational materials to schools and communities to meet their educational needs and we were delighted to have the opportunity to strengthen our friendship with someone who has such a wealth of experience in Africa.

Spanish books help children in Peru

School Aid were able to pass on books, unsuitable for Africa, to another charity, Building a future for Peruvian Children.

Carole Watton, Treasurer, had sent us a message saying that the final box of books taken to Peru last year were delivered to the second chosen primary school, El Socorro. The excited children started immediately to explore them. The headmaster felt they would be particularly helpful with a small number of children who were finding learning to read quite difficult.
