Story time at Tsoelo-Pele 'Moho Primary School reading club

New year, new books for Lesotho schools

Children at 22 primary and secondary schools in Lesotho were delighted to have a New Year boost to their reading resources early in 2019. Between them educating more than 13,000 children, the schools are largely based in and around the capital, Maseru, reinforcing our long-standing commitment to this area.  Most were selected by our project and reading club officer, Moso Ranoosi, but we also continue to support three schools in the remote mountain district of Thaba Tseka, where our long-term partner, Dolen Cymru Wales Lesotho Link, is running ongoing literacy programmes.

Some of the recipient primary schools are participants in our now-established reading club programme, introducing youngsters to the joy of reading through colourful stories, drama and drawing. With the generous support of Usborne Books at Home, five new schools will come on board this term, with a further five later in the year.
