Fundraising
A new focus
We are embarking on
a period of new initiatives with our new warehouse and new staffing,
and therefore the trustees are planning a major fundraising appeal.
WE WOULD NOW WELCOME HELP WITH OBTAINING VITAL ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL
SUPPORT FOR OUR WORK, AS WELL AS CONTINUING TO RECEIVE YOUR GENEROUS
DONATIONS OF EDUCATIONAL ITEMS.
Schools
As well as collecting educational gifts for us, some schools also
give funds. Here are some of the activities that have helped raise
money for School-Aid:
- Concerts & plays
- Sponsored walk &
swim
- Mufti day, Schools
quiz
- Filling a minibus
with footballs and sports kit
- School fair, healthy
food stall
- Line of donated coins
- Guess the name of
the doll, or pebbles in a jar
Can you suggest something new?
Local groups and businesses
If your organization raises money for charities please consider
putting us on your list. Several organizations have helped us
enormously for, example Rotary and the Inner Wheel, church groups,
clubs and town councils and businesses.
The demand for books in African schools is huge. We want to expand
but rely on funds to provide transport links, storage and shipping
administration.
We are always delighted to hear from individuals, organizations
and companies, small and large, and charitable trusts who might
support our growth.
Please contact us if you can give or help us with fundraising.
Why us?
School-Aid is unusual in providing an international door-to-door
service. The core purpose of School-Aid is to give goods rather
than financial hand-outs so that it can ensure that all donations
are well used.
School-Aid’s volunteers in Africa carefully identify and
review the needs of African schools and the UK office volunteers
match them with recycled goods whenever possible.
Compared with some charities that recycle through retail outlets
School-Aid has maintained low overheads to date. All donations
have zero costs for the recipient African schools.
